TRAVEL INFORMATION

IMPORTANT

Ignore your Sat Nav if it tries takes you to Henrietta Street via the Abbey.  You really, really must not go down the Donkey Track which runs parallel to the 199 Steps. The sign at the top states unsuitable for motor vehicles - the track is very, very steep.  The only approach to Henrietta Street by car is directly from Church Street where it becomes a narrow cobbled road.

Whitby

Whitby is an ideal holiday centre. It is an old fishing port with water sports and miles of sandy beaches, the home of Captain Cook, on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. The moors, woods and villages - 'Heartbeat' country are wonderful for walking and exploring. The cathedral city of York is an hour away. Click here for Google Maps

East Cliff Cottages are situated on Henrietta Street; a narrow cobbled street below the East Cliff in the historic quarter of town between the famous 199 Steps and the sea. The cobbled street which starts on Church Street continues past the Abbey Steps and leads to the East Pier.

Shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants are nearby in Church street. Over the harbour bridge, a short walk away are the larger shops, entertainments, fish quay, railway and bus station.
